What is asbestos?

Many companies that used asbestos have filed bankruptcy.

These companies used asbestos for products such as vinyl floor tiles, roofing tars, gaskets, caulk, adhesives, clutch plates, stage curtains, fire blankets, interior fire doors, and thermal pipe insulation. There were many other uses for asbestos that are too numerous to mention.

Asbestosis is a chronic inflammatory lung disease. It often leads to increased lung infections, permanent lung damage, and death. In addition, asbestos fibers scar the lung tissue, which decreases the lungs’ ability to supply oxygen to the heart.
