$16 Million Settlement to Mesothelioma Widows

$16 Million Settlement to Mesothelioma Widows

A court has upheld the decision of a lower court to aware $8 million each to two widows of men that died from mesothelioma. Dave Konstantin and Ronald Dummitt each contract mesothelioma by being exposed to asbestos at their work places. Konstantin inhaled asbestos dust working on skyscrapers and Dummitt was exposed to asbestos working on vintage World War II ships.

Mesothelioma is a cancer that can form in the lining of the lungs, heart, abdomen, and testicles. It does not have a cure and can be very uncomfortable and painful as it can affect your breathing.

In this case, a divided panel of judges finally ruled in favor of widows of Konstantin and Dummitt, giving the $16 million settlement. The lawsuit was against Tishman, the contractor of the jobs, who had knowledge of the dangerous effects of asbestos from 1969. Tishman, however, still allowed workers to be exposed to the dangerous asbestos particles.
